Berdych To Play Erste Bank Open 500 In Vienna

The World No. 15 joins local hero Dominic Thiem.

VIENNA, July 14, 2017

Organizers of the Erste Bank Open 500 announced Thursday that Tomas Berdych will compete at the ATP 500 event, held inside the Stadthalle Vienna from 21 to 29 October 2017.

The 31-year-old from the Czech Republic, who will take on Roger Federer in the semi-finals at Wimbledon this Friday, will join local favourite Dominic Thiem. Berdych beat the young Austrian in the fourth round of The Championships in a thrilling five-set encounter.

“Many of the top player are interested to compete in Vienna,” tournament director Herwig Straka told. “We are very pleased that Tomas decided to play here in October. He is in really great form at the moment and I am sure that he will get a lot of support from his Czech fans in Vienna. The Czech Republic is also an important market for the Erste Group.”
