The semi-finals at the €42,500 Tilia Slovenia Open in Portoroz are set. The tournament’s number one Florian Mayer was in control of his quarterfinal encounter on Thursday against Adrian Menéndez-Maceiras, winning 6-0, 6-3.
The 32-year-old German saved four of the five break points he faced, converting six of his own to advance in 64 minutes. Mayer will next face Grega Zemlja. The last Slovenian in the singles draw fought past Marko Tepavac 6-4, 7-6. The world number 139 withstood 13 aces, hitting six of his own to secure victory in one hour and 24 minutes.
Zemlja won the only previous meeting between the two in Miami three years ago.

The seventh seed from St. Petersburg eased past the tournament’s number two Renzo Olivo, winning 6-2, 6-4. Kudryavtsev, who also made it to the stage of the final four last year, didn’t face a break point, capitalizing on three of his own to prevail in 65 minutes. It will be the first tour meeting between the two Russians.
