Barbora Strycova captured the singles title at the WTA International Upper Austria Ladies Linz, winning Sunday’s final against top seed Magdalena Rybarikova 6-4, 6-1.
The second favourite from Slovakia won 82 per cent of her first service points and broke serve five times to prevail after one hour and 27 minutes.
“I’m very happy, it’s the second title of my career, it’s sweet, it feels nice,” exclaimed Strycova during her post-match press conference, where she was also served her favourite Austrian dessert Kaiserschmarrn.
“Maybe the thoughts will come to me a little bit more tomorrow, but I feel relief, I feel very tired, but I feel very happy.”

Strycova enters the WTA winner’s circle for the first time since 2011, when she was victorious at the Coupe Banque Nationale in Quebec City. It was her second career title.
Earlier in the day, Kiki Bertens from the Netherlands and Johanna Larsson of Swden clinched the doubles crown. The top seeds fought past Natela Dzalamidze from Russia and Swiss Xenia Knoll 3-6, 6-3, 10-4. The final lasted one hour and 12 minutes.
