MUNICH, April 19, 2018
World No. 1 pairing Marcelo Melo and Lukasz Kubot will headline the doubles entry list of this year’s BMW Open by FWU. The Brazilian-Polish combination clinched the title in Wimbledon last year and lifted the trophies at the ATP Masters 1000 events in Miami and Paris-Bercy.
“We are very pleased to welcome the currently best doubles team of the world in Munich. They play incredibly exctiting tennis, which will be attractive for the spectators,” tournament director Patrik Kühnen stated.
Germany’s Davis Cup doubles team Tim Pütz and Jan-Lennard Struff will also come to Munich. The duo recently celebrated a great win over 2016 French Open champions Feliciano López and Marc López in five sets in Valencia. “They are currently the best German doubles team. They know each other for a long time and harmonize very well on the court,” Kühnen commented.
