MELBOURNE, December 12, 2018

Men’s quarterfinals and women’s doubles semifinals have concluded on day three of the Australian Open 2019 Play-off.

Semifinals for the men’s field are set after top seed Alex Bolt (SA) defeated [5] Akira Santillan (Qld), third seed James Duckworth (NSW) defeated 17-year-old Rinky Hijikata (NSW), Maverick Banes (Qld) ousted second seed John-Patrick Smith (Qld) and wildcard Luke Saville (SA) defeated Victorian Dayne Kelly.

“I’m happy with my game, and I’m really starting to chip away and I feel like the serve’s starting to come back. Starting to win some of those closer matches which I’ve probably been losing (previously),” Saville said.

In women’s doubles action, Astra Sharma (WA) and Isabelle Wallace (Vic) face top seeds Destanee Aiava (Vic) and Naiktha Bains (Qld) in Friday’s final for a chance to win a doubles wildcard for AO 2019.
