SAINT BRIEUC, March 31, 2019

Kamil Majchrzak of Poland has clinched his first title on the ATP Challenger Tour. The 23-year-old from Piotrkow Trybunalski won the 16th edition of the €46,600 Open Harmonie Mutuelle held on the indoor hard courts of the Salle Steredenn in Saint Brieuc.

Majchrzak advanced to the title match with wins over Baptiste Crepatte from France, Mikael Torpegaard of Denmark, last week’s Lille champion Gregoire Barrere and top seed Ricardas Berankis from Lithuania. The tournament’s No. 8 beat Frenchman Maxime Janvier 6-3, 7-6(1) on Sunday afternoon. Majchrzak saved five of the six break points he faced, capitalizing on three of his own four chances to prevail after one hour and 24 minutes.

Following eight ITF singles titles, Majchrzak lifted his maiden Challenger trophy, earning €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP-Ranking points. He has become the 12th first-time champion of 2019.

Earlier in the day, Jonathan Erlich of Israel and Frenchman Fabrice Martin took the doubles crown. The No. 4 seeds defeated Jonathan Eysseric of France and Antonio Sancic from Croatia 7-6(2), 7-6(2). The encounter lasted one hour and 44 minutes.
