The quarterfinals of the AnyTech365 Andalucia Open are set, led by No. 3 seed Jaume Munar, the highest ranked player left in the singles draw of the ATP Challenger 80 clay-court tournament in Marbella, Spain. The 23-year-old local favourite defeated Czech qualifier Vit Kopriva 6-4, 6-2 on a sunny Thursday in front of a limited number of spectators at the Club de Tenis Puente Romano.

Munar sent down three aces and won 82 per cent of his first-service points to advance in one hour and 34 minutes. Up next for the World No. 99 will be Taro Daniel from Japan. The sixth seed edged past Spanish wild card entry Carlos Gomez-Herrera 7-5, 6-4 after one hour and 50 minutes.

In other action, Mario Vilella Martinez upset seventh favourite Damir Dzumhur from Bosnia and Herzegovina 6-3, 6-4. The 25-year-old alternate from Spain, who practices at the JC Ferrero Equelite Sport Academy in Villena, located at the northwest part of Alicante, converted four of his five break-point chances to prevail after one hour and 38 minutes.

Vilella Martinez will next take on in-form Serbian Nikola Milojevic. The 25-year-old has come to the Costa del Sol fresh off his title win at the inaugural Zadar Open in Croatia last Sunday and continued his winning streak by beating French alternate Maxime Janvier 6-1, 7-5. The encounter lasted one hour and 31 minutes.
