Rafael Nadal leads the way at the season’s first clay-court ATP Masters 1000 event, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, where he will try to win a record-extending 12th trophy. The Spaniard has been a force in the Principality, where he has tallied a 71-5 record.
But a hungry field will attempt to prevent the lefty from again emerging victorious. World No. 1 Novak Djokovic will pursue his third title at this tournament. The Serbian is 9-0 so far this year, highlighted by his run to a ninth Australian Open triumph. Daniil Medvedev, who made the semi-finals here in 2019, is the second seed.
Other players to watch for include red-hot Russians Andrey Rublev and Aslan Karatsev, Jannik Sinner, who made his first Masters 1000 final in Miami and defending champion Fabio Fognini.
