Andrej Martin of Slovakia has reached the quarterfinals of the San Luis Open BMW. The top seed of the $53,120 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court tournament rallied past Germany’s Nicola Kuhn 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday afernoon.

Martin, champion here in the capital and the most populous city of the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi in 2017, capitalized on four of his five break-point opportunities to secure victory in two hours and 24 minutes.

Afterwards Martin told the media that he was happy with the victory and with the results obtained in the two previous matches. However, he felt a little nervous against Kuhn but in the end he managed to win the match. Asked about his expectations for this tournament, Martin acknowledged that he has experienced a bad streak for the last two months. Yet, the conditions in San Luis suit him very well and he hopes for a good result here.

The World No. 133 will next take on Swiss qualifier Antoine Bellier, who upset seventh-seeded Italian Federico Gaio 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in one hour and 33 minutes.
