“A final always brings a little extra tension,” said Coria’s coach Andres Schneiter, nicknamed “Gringo” for his blond hair and blue eyes. “Francesco made a few more mistakes but fought until the end.”

By lifting his fourth ATP Challenger career trophy, his first of the season, the World No. 70 earned €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.

“Last year we had the goal of finishing in the Top 100. This year we only wanted to play big tournaments,” Schneiter said. “We would like to win an ATP tournament but the idea is to build a ranking so that you can play these kind of tournaments on a regular basis.”
