Cameron Norrie has had an impressive climb up the ATP world rankings over the last couple of years. The British player is having another excellent year on the tour, as he showed at the Los Cabos Open where he finished runner-up to Daniil Medvedev.

Norrie was the defending champion in Mexico after winning the title in 2021. It took a big performance from the world number one to stop him from prevailing once again in the ATP 250 event.

Although he was beaten in the final, Norrie will be very happy with his game go into the US Open, the final Grand Slam event of the year. The 26-year-old is 33/1 in the tennis betting to prevail at Flushing Meadows.

Norrie is likely to be one of the leading tennis tips for the event in New York. Some of his best wins have come on hard courts so he should be full of confidence on the surface in the Grand Slam.

Norrie Proved He Can Reach Latter Stages of a Grand Slam at Wimbledon

The British player’s best run at a Grand Slam event so far came earlier this summer when he reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon. In front of his home crowd, he had wins over Pablo Andujar, Jaume Munar, Steve Johnson, Tommy Paul and David Goffin to reach the last four.

Norrie faced number one seed Novak Djokovic in the semi-final and when he won the opening set 6-2, it looked as though there was going to be a big upset on the cards. However, as he often does when behind, the 21-time Grand Slam winner upped his game to come out on top in four sets.

The experience of reaching the last four in London will stand Norrie in good stead. He will now know what is required over the two weeks to progress as deep as he did. His next goal will be to reach a final for the first time.

With Andy Murray now much further down the world rankings, Norrie carries the hopes of Great Britain on his shoulders in the men’s game. British tennis fans will be hoping their new star can replicate what Murray achieved in 2012 by lifting the trophy at the US Open.

Big Win in Indian Wells Masters in 2021

Norrie is now a four-time winner on the ATP Tour. He has also reached 11 finals. His biggest win came in 2021 in the Indian Wells Masters, an ATP 1000 tournament. He defeated Nikoloz Basilashvili in the final in California.

The win in Indian Wells came at the end of a hot run of form from Norrie. Between August and October in 2021, he reached three finals. He won the Los Cabos Open in Mexico, lost in the final of the San Diego Open, and then earned himself a big boost to his ranking in the ATP 1000 event.

Norrie has a good chance of ending the year inside the top 10 of the world rankings. If he continues to improve, a first Grand Slam victory may not be far away either.
