SANTANDER, August 27, 2022
Titouan Drouguet has clinched the title of the 73º Torneo Internacional RST La Magdalena. The No. 5 seed of the ITF World Tennis Tour M25 clay-court event in Santander defeated top favourite and 2019 champion Oscar Jose Gutierrez of Brazil 7-6(9), 6-0 in Sunday’s singles final.
In front of the members of the Real Sociedad de Tenis de la Magdalena on a sunny day in Northern Spain, Droguet sent down three aces and won 69 per cent of his first-service points. The 21-year-old, who is coached by former World No. 226 Yannick Jankovits and practices at the Tennis Academy in Cap d’Agde close to Montpellier, broke his rival five times to seal victory in one hour and 31 minutes.
World No. 462 Droguet captured his second career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour following his maiden triumph on home soil in Angers in April. He earned valuable 25 ATP Ranking points.
