Denis Kudla

TIBURON/STARNBERG, October 8, 2022

Top seed Denis Kudla moved on to the semi-finals of the Tiburon Challenger following a 7-5, 7-6(8) win over fifth favourite Enzo Couacaud of France on Friday.

The World No. 100 from the United States will next face his compatriot and No. 4 seed Ben Shelton, son of University of Florida men’s tennis coach Bryan Shelton. Kudla and Shelton are the only two seeded players left in the $53,120 hard-court competition.

US-American Zachary Svajda and Canadian Alexis Galarneau, who have consistently performed well in the Tiburon Challenger, also reached the stage of the last four and will vie against each other for a spot in Sunday’s championship match.

Local wild cards Ezekiel Clark and Alfredo Perez compete against Leandro Riedi from Switzerland and Valentin Vacherot from Monaco for the doubles championship beginning at noon on Saturday, following a Special Olympics exhibition.
